A Formation Lap

A Formation Lap

Burnt rubber fills your nostrils. The scream of V8 engines dulls your ears to everything but the cars ripping past on the track. The race is about to begin. In Formula One, a safety car leads the racers around the track in a formation lap to allow them to warm up their tires and breaks. This gives the vehicles optimal speed and performance during the race. This is the perfect analogy for where we are at this moment in ministry.

We have arrived in Zambia with our engines tuned and ready for the race, and we are warming up our tires to gain grip for the duration of the race. The past three weeks Rachel and I have focused on settling the details of life in a new country. We have been mostly successful. We are still waiting on a few steps for immigration and to get our drivers licenses.

We have also begun to form new relationships at Kitwe Church. We already see exciting opportunities for church ministry. Today, Rachel joined a women's Bible study and was thoroughly encouraged.

In addition, this next semester I will begin to teach introductory Greek at CABU (Central Africa Baptist University). By God's grace, I have already begun preparing the course and refreshing my language skills.

This formation lap is launching us to accomplish the vision. We want to catalyze the growth of a vibrant network of self-sustaining, multiplying churches throughout Zambia and Africa. These churches must be led by well-equipped local pastors and leaders deeply rooted in their communities and committed to the spread of the gospel.

By giving them access to the original languages, we give them the ability to better understand the Scriptures and refute false teaching.

Thank you for praying for us. We continue to rest in our gracious God as we work hard to accomplish our Lord's command.

Jesus Over Everything,
