Celebrating Our Spiritual Heritage
For you, God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name. Ps. 61:6
This weekend was joyful with a tinge of sadness—we had a final vacation with Rachel's family before we leave, and we were officially commissioned and sent by Resurrection Church. Madeline (Rachel's mom) read Psalm 61 to us on Saturday night. As we prayed, I was reminded how truly blessed we are to have been given a heritage of those who fear God's name.
This grace is multi-layered. Our heritage includes my family, who have dedicated 32 years to faithful service on the mission field. It encompasses mentors like Pastor David Doran Jr., who have devoted their lives to nurturing ours through diligent preaching, teaching, and living a life centered around the Gospel. It includes the wise men at DBTS, who have taught me to skillfully interpret the Scriptures. And importantly, it includes our church—our spiritual family for the last eleven years, filled with men and women who are led by the Spirit.
Praise the Lord and continue to pray as we prepare to leave on the 25th of June!
