God Doesn't Need You
But he certainly will use you.
Raised in Zambia, I deeply respected my dad and his ministry. During a Wednesday night prayer meeting, I remember praying with Pastor Saidi and saying something like, “Thank you, God, for sending my dad to Zambia to reach people with the gospel. Without that, many would not have come to Christ.”
I remember Pastor Saidi later correcting me: God would have saved those people without your dad. He does not need anyone, but we all have the privilege of sharing in His grand design. I have come to agree: no one is irreplaceable in God’s design.
God is not thwarted by the will of man, but He is pleased to work through broken and dirty vessels of His grace (2 Cor. 4:7).
This morning, I am reflecting on this truth: God does not need us, but He commands us to make disciples. He is pleased to use us for His glory and our good.
Family Update
A quick update...
We are in the USA preparing to go back to Zambia. When we first left for Zambia, we raised some ministry support. If you remember, I was volunteering my time at CABU while continuing my software engineering work remotely.
Near the end of last year, it became clear that we needed to begin the next phase of our plan: raising the funds needed to live in Zambia fully focused on ministry.
To serve this goal, we were in Oklahoma for the past few months helping facilitate the transition. We have been in West Virginia for the past couple of weeks, and we will head back to Oklahoma before traveling to Michigan at the end of June.
It has been a joy to connect with many of you. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness to us during our stay.
- Pray for Rachel as she homeschools the kids on the road.
- Pray for Caspian, Adelaide, and little Cyrus as they are not in their normal routine.
- Please continue to pray for us as we share what God is doing in Zambia with churches and individuals and ask them to prayerfully consider partnering with us.
We want to see the next generation of servant-leaders in Africa trained to continue the theologically grounded, African-led church-planting movement on the continent.
To God be All the Glory!
