How does an Anthill Grow?

How does an Anthill Grow?
My second time teaching the Greek class I'm assisting Kevin with this semester.

If you come to visit us in Zambia, one thing you'll immediately notice as you go through the bush is the anthills or termite hills. It is fascinating that these tiny creatures can erect such enormous hills 10 or even 20 feet high.

Becoming like our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ—our discipleship—follows the same process. Just like termites move trillions of grains of sand over 20 years, they create enormous hills. In the same way, we are transformed daily by the thousands of little adjustments the Spirit is making to our lives. Through His word, through prayer, and His people, we see God changing us daily.

As the years go by, we wonder how we got this far. But, God has been working truly through what we view as unspectacular little repentances and obediences in our lives.

By no means is my anthill fully constructed. But here in Zambia we have the opportunity to encourage others to grow in their faith. CABU is one of the opportunities we have to encourage others in their faith. By God's grace, we are participating in preparing the next generation of servant-leaders to call people to follow Jesus everywhere.

This week was the last week of class at CABU, and I had another opportunity to participate directly in teaching. I'm geared up and excited about having my own full class starting in February next year. It is an honor to play a role in discipling these men for ministry.

Here are some praises and prayer requests from the month:

Praises

  1. Rachel and I were able to take a long-planned trip at the end of October. It was an encouragement to have some quality time together.
  2. We've reached the last phase of the membership process at Kitwe Church. Lord willing, we will be able to join officially next week.

Requests

  1. Pray for Rachel as we prepare to have our baby #3 here in Zambia.
  2. Pray that God will provide us a permanent, affordable place to live.
  3. Pray that God will continue to raise up men and women to reach Africa for Christ.
Some homiletics students preached in chapel this past week.
We joyfully watched several identifying with Christ in baptism this past Sunday at Kitwe Church.
Caspian has joined the kids Bible class. We praise God for our new church.
We got to have lunch with the visiting Nicholsons, whom we befriended at IBMGlobal candidate training.
