Jesus Over Everything
The central cry of our sending church has been, "Jesus Over Everything!" He is worthy of our joyful singing in worship on Sunday—and our dug-in heels Monday through Saturday, sweating to press down His glory onto His world.
From the beginning of this journey, our hearts have been filled with this same vision. We want to return to Zambia to see Jesus over every place, every day, and every choice.
How can this be done if churches do not raise up faithful men equipped to impress the truth on others (2 Tim. 2:2)? This question must be answered not only for blue-collar, downriver Lincoln Park, but for Kitwe.
In the United States, we have the benefit of thousands of layers of grace. We have many godly, grounded institutions planted and producing hundreds of God's-glory-motivated men. Though there are obvious challenges presenting themselves as churches die for lack of godly leaders, we still have a glut of quality leaders being produced.
In Africa, it is alarmingly difficult to find men molded into the image of Christ, our Shepherd. The famine of men shaped by the way of life handed down by Christ has produced a Christianity founded on the serpent's lies. The dogma of African Traditional Religion continues as the true power leveraged by people to achieve their earthly goals.
What seems even rarer to find on the continent of Africa are rooted leaders in churches eager to raise up and send church planters across cultural and geopolitical boundaries.
The "Jesus Over Everything!" battle cry will topple the enemy's bunkers in Africa if Spirit-empowered men are equipped to wield the Scriptures by battle-hardened trainers.
These warriors are what CABU and its network of churches are producing in Kitwe, Zambia. Through imperfect, grace-rehabilitated people, God is building an army whose weapons are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control.
The fruit budding in Kitwe will make your jaw drop in wonder at God's work. The uncommon feels common—men are being raised, commissioned, and sent to plant churches among the Sudanese, Bemba, Ghanaians, Tanzanians, and Angolans.
On their surface, the results in Zambia may seem like a mere drop of water in a desert, but anyone who visits will see that it is a budding spring we must cultivate into a rushing river of grace to every tribe, village, and city in Africa.
Pray for us as we eagerly push forward to return and play a part in what God is doing to make His glory known among the nations.
